Way of the Warlord: Phase 11

This week we continue with our Way of the Warlord program here at A Kings Castle.  This is designed to be an interactive physical, mental, and martial arts program where the authors of the site give out a two week challenge to the readers to better ourselves and become better men.

Phase 10 Complete:

Phase 10’s homework was

Physical: Add in body weight exercises.

I was able to get up to 10 pulls and chins done in a superset.  I want to add dips as well, and will explore other body weight exercises.

Mental: Get your read on

I completed the Arnold books and started on a technical certification book I need to complete.

Phase 11 Homework

Physical: Up That Cardio Game

As we get closer to summer I’m ramping up the cardio and eating super clean.  This is the push to looking good when its suns out guns out weather.  I want you to increase your cardio by 25% this week.

Mental:  Avoiding Distraction

I’ve found a technique that I am starting over the next week.  When you’re trying to get shit done and be in “work” mode, people sugguest turning the notifications off on your phone, and only checking it at lunch time.  Im going to give it a shot and see how my productivity and focus improve.


So you’re now able to do your form blind. Let’s up the ante a bit. Make (or imagine) a 3 foot x 3 foot square on the floor. For this week, you must do the form completely inside the square while still taking full steps. I’m order to do this, you must make room to step forward by actually stepping back with your front leg first. It’ll take a little practice to get it down but will become much easier after doing it a few times.

Train hard, gentlemen. Your next martial challenge will really test your knowledge of the form you chose.
